Brenda is absolutely incredible. We took Brenda’s Lamaze classes in the weeks leading up to the birth of our daughter. I am a labor and delivery nurse, and even with my own knowledge, having Brenda guidance through how to process the journey together and intimately was amazing and so incredibly helpful for my husband and I. Brenda truly embodies this work and it is so evident in how she teaches and shares with the upmost love, passion, respect and professionalism.

Presented in two 3-hour sessions, “Get Curious About Birth” is a welcoming, informative class designed to help you understand your options, feel confident, and make choices that support the kind of birth experience you want. Together, we’ll explore the Lamaze Six Healthy Birth Practices and help you connect them to your own wishes, values, and comfort levels—along with your partner’s.

You’ll learn what the Stages and Phases of Labor typically look and feel like, so you can better recognize what your body is doing and how to respond. We’ll walk through how to create a simple but meaningful personalized birth plan, one that reflects what matters most to you while staying flexible for whatever your birth may bring.

We’ll also dive into a variety of comfort strategies to help you cope with labor sensations—things like movement, breathwork, massage, positioning, and tools you can use at home or in the hospital.

Because labor can sometimes need a little help, we’ll cover inductions and common medical interventions, explaining what they are, when they might be recommended, and how they may affect your options. We’ll also discuss surgical birth (cesarean birth) so you feel knowledgeable and prepared no matter how your baby arrives.

Finally, we’ll look beyond birth itself and help you prepare a realistic, supportive postpartum plan—one that prioritizes nourishment, rest, emotional well-being, and physical healing during those important early weeks with your new baby.

In short, this class helps you get curious, ask questions, explore your choices, and feel ready for your birth journey with confidence and clarity.

Natural Comfort Measures for Labor and Birth is a hands-on, 3-hour workshop designed to help you become an active, confident participant in your own birth experience.

We’ll practice how to breathe and work with labor sensations, learning techniques that make it easier to stay grounded and focused. You’ll explore a variety of mental strategies that support a calm mindset, as well as body positions that can make labor more effective and more comfortable.

Partners play a key role in this class, too. They’ll learn massage and pressure techniques, along with when and how to use heat, cold, water, nourishment, and hydration to keep your “birth marathon” flowing smoothly.

You’ll also receive a full collection of short instructional videos to help you understand not just how to do each technique, but why it works. Practice along with the instructor at your own pace, whenever you need a refresher.

These comfort measures are useful whether you plan to use pain medication or not—and they can support you in any birth setting, from home to hospital.

Successful Breastfeeding for the Family

Successful Breastfeeding for the Family is a supportive, 3-hour session designed to help you feel confident that you can nourish the baby you’ve grown.

Breastfeeding is easier when your environment feels calm, comfortable, and cared for—so we also focus on how your loved ones can nurture you, while you nurture your little one.

This class teaches your partner and any other support people **how breastfeeding works—and what can disrupt it—**so they can help create the conditions that set you up for success in the early days and weeks.

You’ll learn practical ways to help your baby stay calm and content, reduce unnecessary crying, get more rest, and support your body in making plenty of milk.

Partners will discover the powerful, hands-on role they play in breastfeeding success—one that goes far beyond giving a bottle. Every parent is a nurturer; they simply have different tools, and when they know how to use them, their support is truly invaluable.

Babies may not come with instruction manuals, but this class will help you navigate those early weeks with confidence and clarity.

We begin by exploring newborn appearance and behavior—what they look like, how they communicate, and what they’re able to see and do from the moment they arrive.

You’ll learn how to recognize the difference between hunger cues, discomfort, and cries for connection, so you can respond calmly and effectively.

We’ll talk about how to keep your baby content during the Fourth Trimester, using simple techniques that activate their natural calming reflexes for less crying, more sleep, and more peaceful moments together.

Using doll models, you’ll get hands-on practice with the basics of newborn care: bathing, diapering, umbilical cord care, intact/circumcision care, supportive holds for colic, and comforting a fussy baby with swaddling and soothing strategies. We’ll also cover common newborn health topics like SIDS prevention, signs of illness, how to take a temperature, and when to call your pediatrician.

We’ll explore two essential questions:

  1. How will your baby adjust to life outside the womb?

  2. And how will you adjust to life with your baby?

To end the class, you'll learn a gentle 8-minute baby massage routine—a lovely end-of-day ritual that anyone can master, including grandparents and caregivers. Baby massage can support digestion, weight gain, deeper sleep, and overall bonding. It’s calming for adults too, making it a wonderful partner activity (and yes… bigger hands can be a bonus!).

This fun, confidence-building class is packed with valuable insights and hands-on skills you'll use from the very first day home.

Everyone leaves feeling excited, prepared, and ready to swaddle, soothe, and care for their new baby!

Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula DONA International
Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator
Fellow of the Academy of Childbirth Educators

I've been working as a doula since 1992, one year after the birth of my first son. I officially trained and certified in 1999 after my second birth, my VBAC. I began midwifery school in 2003 and became a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator in 2006. Since then I've trained hundreds of birth and postpartum doulas, started the very first doula agency in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, offering a more thorough, complete training with an apprenticeship.

About my credentials: I'm a Certified Birth & Postpartum Doula through DONA International, an Accredited Infant Massage Instructor, a Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator and a Fellow of the Academy of Certified Childbirth Educators. I proudly served on the Board of Directors for Lamaze International.

Testimonial for an online birth class and virtual doula services with Brenda
Makenzie & her baby girl

Makenzie & her baby girl

We got to meet Brenda through the online Lamaze trio class in preparation for our firstborn! I found Brenda’s website amidst countless other Doula/Lamaze websites and truly believe her practice and services have the best to offer. Brenda was personable, kind, informative, trustworthy, and talked to you like you’ve known her for years. She put the knowledge in our hands and really wanted us to succeed! Her evidence based practice MAKES SENSE and has made us even more excited for the birth process!
— Makenzie W.

I love working with Brenda! She is so knowledgable and kind, helping me build up the info I need to have a healthy birth and also answering questions with kindness, understanding, and humor. I recommend her Lamaze classes to anyone expecting a baby!
— Caitlyn W.
Melissa sitting on toilet while in labor and giving birth
As a labor and delivery nurse, doula, and pregnant new momma, my husband and I went to Brenda’s class because I knew that she would help fill my husband in on what to expect during labor and delivery and also help educate me on tips and tricks that I didn’t know. Plus, it feels good to be an active participant in preparing for birth from a new perspective- as the mom rather than the RN or doula. Brenda has been a doula for 27 years and has more certifications than I honestly knew existed; she is the original, the OG, the birth God Mother, that can help educate you to feel confident in your choices and prepare for the birthday. Her method covers all types of learning styles and keeps participants engaged. She is cheerful, excited, and a wealth of knowledge with experience in home birth, birth centers, and hospital birth.
— Melissa M.
Melissa holding her newborn in bathtub after giving birth
We used Brenda as our doula for our first baby. She taught our hospital classes and we just instantly liked her. My husband who was very skeptical about using a doula was sold when he met her. Besides her 30 + years of experience. She has a calming presence that and will give you confidence that you can do this. She walked with us through the entire process leading up to the birth each week. I ended up having a challenging labor that would have been a lot more scary for us if we didn’t have her by my side guiding us. As my husband says she was the best money we spent this entire process. Her postpartum visit literally saved our sanity and sleep as we were following some bad advice from a lactation consultant. After following Brenda’s advice our baby started sleeping 5 hours straight at night, and gaining weight properly. I’m forever indebted to her for being such an incredible resource and guide through this journey to becoming a mother. If you are fortunate to get the oppurtunity to have Brenda as your doula consider youself the luckiest woman! I hands down recommend her, her online tutorials, and post partum care.

happy mom and dad holding newborn in hospital bed about child birth
Lamaze classes were amazing. Brenda is very knowledgeable and had a great personality that made the classes very enjoyable for a full three and a half hours! We learned many significant aspects of birthing, and most important the awareness that it is a natural process. This makes us feel more comfortable, less anxious about delivery. We also like the doula community; we hired one after taking this class. They are very caring. Thanks so much.
— Tatiana A.
