Melissa Gonzalez

Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, ICEA CBE, Alpha Childbirth  Instructor, & CBWS Babywearing Educator

Melissa Gonzalez is a DONA trained birth and postpartum doula. After supporting over 100 families as a birth and postpartum doula in San Diego, CA over the last 5 years, she has relocated to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. While in San Diego, she supported births at homes, birth centers, hospitals and as part of the Sharp Mary Birch Women's Hospital Doula Team with a variety of experiences: un-medicated and medicated, vaginal and cesareans births, and VBACs (vaginal births after cesareans), rainbow babies and losses. 

 

Originally from Puerto Rico and fluent in Spanish. She and her husband, a US Navy service member, have 3 kids - 10 year old and 5 year old sons, and a 1 year old daughter.  Melissa went to college for aviation and aeronautics but, after being in the industry for a few years, she found her true calling in being home with her kids and supporting families during prenatal and postpartum. She became her son's advocate (he's on the Autism Spectrum), teacher (they home schooled), and became actively involved in the birth and parenting community and was on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Birth Network.

 

Melissa is a ICEA (International Childbirth Education Association) Childbirth Educator, Alpha (Christian Curriculum) Childbirth Educator, Center for Babywearing Studies Babywearing Educator.  She trained with Gail Tully in Spinning Babies, was trained by midwife Tema Mercado in Postpartum Healing, Sealing and Belly Binding techniques, and trained by the Birth Education Center of San Diego in Labor Comfort Measures, Rebozo Techniques and Newborn Care.

 

Melissa supports all choices and believes in empowering families to have a voice and making their experience a beautiful and memorable moment. Whether it is at a class, birth or during the postpartum stage with babywearing classes, belly binding or sealing sessions, she looks forward to supporting the Dallas/Ft. Worth community.
